A 16th-century stone structure
Chateau Saussignac stands as a magnificent testament to centuries past, whose foundations were laid in the 16th century. Its two wings were built during the renaissance period so have a more refined style than the older part of the chateau. The ceiling beams stand at a minimum of 4.5 meters high and the stone walls are one meter thick. There is a labyrinth of stone cellar under the whole structure where protestant monks were hidden to escape persecution.

What truly sets Chateau Saussignac apart are its authentic architectural features, the two awesome towers, the elegance of its tall windows allowing light to flood in and the captivating vaulted stone cellars. The chateau's two wings, skilfully added during the Renaissance, further enhance its impressive character. Interiors steeped in history
The drawing room has a panelled wall, has a large double door and a small single door entering the room. It is said that the small door was for the use of the servants and the large door for the gentry. it is also said that this was typical for the period. As you wander through you will discover period collectables that transport you back in time. Adorning every corner are antique paintings and vintage furniture, each piece carefully selected to reflect the chateau's rich past. This authentic collection ensures a connection with its historical elegance.

All the windows on the ground floor have un upper and a lower section, from the windows upstairs the views of the picturesque village church spire, the mairie, the village green, the chateau courtyard, the vineyards, the tennis court and the rolling hills beyond are just so uplifting. The gently rolling hills truly define the stunning landscape of the Dordogne.
